NPS Gravel Acquisition Plan: Please
comment on the EA
DCC is concerned about several of the alternatives suggested for gravel
pits inside the Park, especially Alternative #3 that proposes the development
of a major extraction site at the western end of the park road in addition
to Teklanika Pit and Toklat River, namely the Moose Creek Terrace site.
DCC would like to see as little disturbance as possible on Moose Creek.

NPS Stampede Visitor Facilities Study Presentation
NPS
and Alaska DNR are investigating proposed visitor facilities along the
Stampede trail alignment, presupposing a Kantishna destination as an alternative.
DCC and many community members have voiced concerns that this study is
premature, coming before any formal decision has been made on the North
Access Issue. This study is in the scoping stage of the process, and
public comment could be very effective in assuring the study include "no
new development, or enhancing the existing visitor facilities along the
Stampede.
