The
Middle Nenana Fish and Game Advisory Committee met recently and
Proposed a No Trapping Zone
At
the committee's Nov 21 meeting, the wolf buffers were a hot topic.
Sue Deyoe presented data from the DCC member survey that showed
a majority of local respondents supporting keeping or enlarging
the buffers. In consideration of this input, the committee proposed
a No Trapping Zone, located roughly in the area of the current
Margaret buffer. The exact boundaries of this zone are not known
at this time. Otherwise, the committee was unfavorable to the
wolf buffers and voted for a proposal to rescind them. These proposals
will be formally published later this month.
Members
who wish to comment on these proposals directly to the Board of
Game may do so, by February 13, 2004. We will bring you more details
on this process as they arise. Meanwhile, if you have not responded
to our survey on the buffers, please take a little time to do
so by clicking the links below.
